Samsung is a South Korean multinational conglomerate with many diverse subsidiaries, one of which is Samsung LED lighting.

The company was founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-ghui and by 1969, Samsung Electronics was established. In 1970, Samsung’s first black-and-white TV went on sale. Throughout the 80s Samsung was becoming a leader in Colour TVs, VCRs, and PCs. In the '90s Samsung began to produce hard drives and external memory devices through their semiconductor business and developed their first mobile phones. By early 2000, Samsung began production of the first HDTVs and now leads the market with their line up of TVs, blu-ray players, mobile phones and other electronic devices.

Samsung's advanced semiconductor manufacturing expertise serves as a strong foundation to deliver state of the art LED devices. Samsung offers LED based lighting solutions in the form of back light units in display panels, exterior and dashboard lighting for the automotive industry and retrofit lighting such as bulbs and tubes.

Now almost 80-years after the company was created, the Samsung group employs over 400,000 employees and continues to expand and develop its portfolio of products and services across the globe.
